Ducklings on the LA River – VIDEO

YouTube Poster

I went years living in LA without knowing the LA River is actually full of wildlife. There are ducks, cranes and other waterfowl living up and down the Los Angeles River, not to mention a host of other animal species. Still, It’s a rare thing to see any kind of wild youngling right here in the middle of town. These ducklings seem so vulnerable, but as Dr. Ian Malcolm said, “Life, uh, finds a way.”

It seems odd not to mention the litter pollution in the river which the video above makes very obvious. The spray-paint can and other trash make it a little hard to see the beauty in the moment, but what can we say. This is the way it is. If you are upset by the pollution or concerned for the wildlife there are a number of organizations to help you get involved. Two good ones are Friends of the LA River and  Volunteers Cleaning Communities (VCC).
